One of the best things about living in Richmond, Virginia, is the James River during summer. As I’ve heard said, “During the summer everyone tries to finish all they have to do by 4pm so they can go get a six pack and head to the river.”
Usually you can find a semi-secluded area to take a dip and remember how much you enjoy the peace that the river can bring. Find a pebbly area of water to lay down in, crack a beer and watch the inevitable group of dogs playing upstream a bit from you. Distant trains whistle and rumble along reminding you that their are places to go. But not now, because you’ve cleared a few hours out to let the current wash away all that’s not necessary in this moment.
